About the event

Ingrid McGarry was born in Chicago and raised in Barrington, Illinois. She moved to Bellingham in 1983 where she taught at Columbia Elementary School for 24 years. Ingrid moved to Lummi Island with her family in 2003. She paints in her cherished studio in the loft of a big red barn on her property on Sunny Hill Lane. Every Friday, she opens her studio to other artists who wish to paint (and dance?) collectively. Ingrid finds inspiration in subjects that tell a story: old cars, farm trucks, boats and buildings worn down by decades of use; people with time and experience etched on their faces; landscapes shaped over the ages by weather and human hands; and animals, both wild and domestic, telling the stories of their existence. Exhibition now showing through May. Monday - Thursday 9am-12pm at the LIH&W Resource Center located in The Gathering Place.
